Once a month, a small group of business owners meets for breakfast in the Midlands to talk about the book we're reading, and what it means for the businesses we run.

One book at a time, two or three chapters a month. A new book is the easiest time to join, because everyone starts together.
A former FBI hostage negotiator on how to negotiate. Useful for anyone who has ever had to talk about a fee, a supplier's price rise or a pay review.
Most business events have someone on a stage and everyone else in rows. You leave with a few notes, and by Monday nothing has changed.
We don't have a speaker or slides. Everyone reads the same chapters and comes ready to talk. A good chapter, discussed by a handful of people who all run businesses, goes a lot further than it would on your own.
We meet on the third Thursday of every month, 10am to midday, over breakfast and coffee, which are included. Our current venue is The Fig & Olive, Coppice Garden Centre, Middleton B78 2BU.
Before each meeting we all read the same two or three chapters. It comes to around four hours a month, reading included.
Between meetings the conversation carries on in the members' WhatsApp group.
You own or run a business, you take your own development seriously, and you'd like a reason to actually finish the book. You're in or near the Midlands, you can make one morning a month, and you'll come having done the reading.
You're after a networking event to hand out cards at, you want a speaker and a stage, or you'd be dipping in and out without reading. We'd rather say that now than waste your morning.
That covers your seat at every meeting, breakfast on the day and the members' WhatsApp group. You buy your own copy of each book, in whatever format you like.
It runs month to month. No joining fee and no contract.
We cap the club at twelve members so everyone gets a proper say.

The club started in September 2025 as a WhatsApp message to a few people we respected: do you want to read a book together?
Founder of Clarigen, which helps owner-managed businesses build the systems, people and habits to run without the owner holding everything together. Before that he spent most of his working life leading teams: seven years at TGI Fridays, finishing as Restaurant Manager, then twelve and a half years in business development helping an IT business grow from £6M to £48.5M. He is also a certified NLP practitioner.
Rich started the club because the best conversations he had about business were never at conferences. They were over a book, with people who were building something too.
A business owner who believes the hardest part of running a company is making decisions without anyone around you who understands the weight of them. Greg co-founded the club to fix exactly that, for himself and for everyone else at the table.
